Director: STONE SOUR Video Bears 'Incredible Conceptual Similarities' To BODYSERPENT Clip
June 4, 2006Pat Tremblay, video director and graphic artist for such bands as GHOULUNATICS, WURDULAK, NECROPHAGIA, VIKING CROWN and ROSTRUM, has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
"I, Pat Tremblay, video director for the song 'Ruler' by black metal band BODYSERPENT (which was filmed in 2005 and released a few months ago, and that you can view both on on YouTube.com and the band's website),find it very strange that it has incredible conceptual similarities to the brand new video by STONE SOUR, entitled '30/30-150' [Watch the STONE SOUR video at this location.]... I mean, the choppy spins around the band members, filmed in black and white and with red designs behind... Hum... Coincidence?
"Anyway, I'm NOT trying to say that my concept is expressly bold, audacious and absolutely new in any kind of way (hey, I haven't seen all the videos by every band out there),and that I'm gonna go on a suing frenzy, cause these strange things really can happen, but I simply just want to set the record straight so that people simply don't believe that I'm just the one who plagiarized some big band out there.
"If I can permit myself to say an egotistical comment here (and don't get me wrong here, I'm not trying to say that I'm this brilliant visionary),is that I find comfort in knowing that at least my video still feels much more visually dynamic then the one from STONE SOUR, whether you like black metal or not."
